Morning screwdriver on the Terrace

I woke up early this morning, so I eventually I drug my sorry ass out of bed. Fortunately, the Concourse Hotel where Im staying offers a complimentary breakfast with a morning bar, so I packed a drink to go.

After a walk around the capital, I stopped by Monana Terrace, a convention and community center originally envisioned by Frank Lloyd Wright.

There's your history lesson for today.

Now I'm heading back to breakfast. And the bar!

Ohhh I miss the Union

A cool breeze is gliding off Lake Mendota, filling my lungs with fresh, lush air, as some funky grooves bounce through the air. Smog is really over-rated I'm beginning to believe..

Anyway, the Memorial Union Terrace is probably the coolest thing about Madison. Too bad summer only lasts a few months.

Now I need a drink. The Bridge just finished off their set.

Mondays and a five dollar bill

It's Maxwell Street days on State Street. So I'm sitting at Mondays, while everyone else is shopping.

And why should I leave? A glass of beer is on special for a buck, and I still have a five dollar bill in my pocket.

Anyway, I'm beginning my Madison quest. At the Irish Pub right now. Hopalicious and Spotted Cows all around.

Its gonna be an early evening, unfortunately, if I don't slow down. I shouldn't have started drinking at 4:20.

Need to find some water.

My first Spotted Cow

One of Wisconsin's best

If you've never been to Wisconsin, then you've probably never had a Spotted Cow. Brewed by the New Glarus brewery, Spotted Cow might just be the best lager-style beer brewed in Wisconsin.

In fact, I'm not a big lager drinker, but this one is hard to ignore every time I make a trip through Wisconsin. A good old Leinies or maybe a Point used to be my Wisco favorites, but Spotted Cow stands above those two fine beers.

It's a good thing this beer wasn't available when I was a student at Wisconsin, I probably would have never graduated. Go Bucky!

I'll be having a few more of these up and down State Street in Madison the next few days.

I'm in LaCrosse, WI off and on the next couple of weeks. My damn Sprint card isn't working, so I had to find a good wifi connection.

Sleeping in luxury with YT

Living large at Motel 6

I haven't stayed at a Motel 6 in a long time, but I needed a cheap hotel room that was dog friendly to catch a few hours of sleep.

Surprisingly, the Motel 6 in Grand Junction, CO is a lot nicer than the last Motel 6 I stayed at. Sure, the room is tiny, the beds are super small, but everything is very clean.

Any other dog-friendly favorites out there? Rate your favorite dog-friendly hotels and motels.

Sadly, however, I can't stay. I can't find a liquour store anywhere.

I'm hitting the road. Heading from Los Angeles to Madison, WI and a lot of places in between.

I've taken this road trip a few times over the last several years, and I love it, at least until I hit Nebraska. No offense cornhuskers, but your state is pretty flat.

YT says goodbye to the 35er

For a few weeks at least

Come Saturday I'm heading half way across the country. So, I had to stop by the 35er and say goodbye.

Can't believe I haven't made a post in weeks.

Anyway, I'm heading to Wisconsin, mostly for work, but also to visit some friends and family. Along the way, and once I'm there, I'm planning on kicking YtsWorld back into gear.

It'll be YT's Midwest adventure! Can't wait to hit State Street in Madtown. Hello cheeseheads!
